About

Hindy was the name of the Kenney family dog; he started walking the earth in the mid 60s.  He was a beloved pet even though he never learned he wasn’t supposed to piddle under the baby grand piano on the light carpet.   Mom, I can’t believe you had such light carpet with six children running around.

Hindy.com launched in 1999.  Why?  It was a sandbox; I wanted to learn how to create interactive websites.  The goal of the site was to provide an online community for our family.  In today’s terms, Hindy was a Web 2.0 site before websites were referred to as such.  It featured guestbooks, contributing authors, shared recipes, photo galleries, multimedia clips, and - one of my favorite features – every year our children would publish their Christmas wish lists (you may recall that  Hindy.com changed color themes at the holidays and Christmas was very festive).  Dan, Laura, Matt, Kyle, Kelly, Michael, Jordan, Austin, Cody, Jack, Karson, Patick, Olivia, Colin, Ryan,  Shane, and even Aunt Kay shared their lists.  I still have some of these funny lists and will be sharing these – I wonder if Jack still wants a pet Iguana.

Incorporating “guestbook” technology, we were “blogging” before blog technology became available.  The problem was that guestbooks were spammed and then the whole guestbook was corrupted and the code had to be rebuilt.  It was a pain.  Blogs surely fix that problem with the simple ”delete” of unwanted contributions.

Our very favorite blog was penned Mike’s Lounge.   Uncle Mike posted hilarious commentary that kept our visitors interested.   I miss Mike’s rants and look forward to reading the creative, funny, and always entertaining postings from Uncle Mike again.

I kept the domain Hindy.com active but took down the old site because it was fairly high maintenance and it wasn’t free.  Today, blogs are free and millions use blogs instead of websites.

So, as we begin posting again and building Hindy back up to its community glory, enjoy!  We’ve come a long way since .mid (midi) Christmas music .  We invite our family to share photos, audio, and video.   Email jillkeogh@gmail.com so I can add you as a contributor to the site.
